Queerious

I just stumbled upon Queerious after checking out fellow blogger Alex's google images search flub.

Apparently when you Google Image Search "Rice Queens," a picture of him and his friends appear as the number 1 search result.  This has happened to me, but the search term was "obese."  Anyway, scroll down further and I found Queerious:

You can see my ADD translated through my Firefox tabs

I love stumbling.  I'm curious to where that third image on the top row leads.

Once I find a blog, I have to read it in its entirety before I can add it to my google reader.  Thankfully, Queerious only launched in January.  As I chucked at a well written entry about RAGE - Really Asian Gay Experience, I realized that the writer was at house last week with homemade dumplings... and the slew of contributors were actually a part of my circle of friends.

Yay for the Gaysian American circle of 100 people.

While you're there, help them determine if particular Asian portrayal in movies is Racist or Ironic.  Quentin loves discussions.

==

And in my attempt to love WeHo for what it is (swaggerless - When the DJ played Go Girl per my request, the club literally stopped dancing and folks made "wtf is this" faces.) Queerious shared a video to show me how I can dance LA's botched remixes mindless house music.

Oh HI San Jose - Chinese Food and Grindr

"Christopher, try not to eat Dim Sum too much. It comes from China. China is dirty."

My parents are convinced that all things Chinese will kill you. "I watched a documentary where the Chinese workers would use their teeth to bite off chicken feet then ship it to the US." My mom expressed genuine concern.

My parents continued, "you don't know the chemicals they put in China, there is no regulation."

I tried to argue that American fast food has just as much chemicals that are bad for you.

"But American food has to be passed by FDA, you know know what they do to those Chinese products before they ship it over."

But of course, Vietnamese food is another story. Here's my mom enjoying Bun Bo Hue from Com Tam Thanh. Nom nom.

My parents' China paranoia is not gonna stop me from ordering my flaky taro balls. I love flaky taro balls.

Though Sam did take us to get Taiwanese breakfast in Alhambra on 11/7 which involves Chinese donuts and some sandwich things... I can't really explain. The place was a grade C and I insisted on trying it anyway. OH man my body hated me... Jimmy explained what it means to get a grade C after we had already ordered. WHY DIDNT YOU SAY ANYTHING?!?!?! It's like saying there's no air on Mars AFTER you stepped off the ship.

We also experienced some Chinese customer service when Sam asked the waitress if there were any more plates coming out. In Chinese she responds, "I don't know! You tell me!" Or something. Sam was unprepared, but it felt like we were having some authentic Chinese food.

Man I had such the shits. I had keys in my hand and almost knocked over Ern when I shoved the front door open while grasping my ass cheeks heading to the bathroom. My body wanted that food out!!!! Sam apologized profusely. I thought it was a good experience.

Silver Gold Amazing wasn't the place we ate at, but just wanted to share.

Maybe I should listen to my parents.

=====

After Viet food today I had an adventure at Walmart with the folks.

While my mom finds a good concealers for dad's skin, I hop on Grindr where I'm buzzed by some random folks... who I find very attractive.

I found my self esteem sky rocketing.

But probably because I'm just a new face on their module. Like a new zebra in a safari full of lions.

Check out this stud:
This is how our conversation went:

David: Swimmer?
Me: Santa Claus?
David: I have some gifts for you
Me: *BLOCK*

Man, I just keep bringing them hotties in.

I also run into these Asians that are only attracted to white guys. I like to question why.

I guess it's just about preference, but I still find it interesting when folks don't find their own ethnicity attractive. What do they see in the mirror? Do they wish they were something else because what they see isn't what they define at attractive?

It definitely is a limitation, but also a question of what you think about your identity if you don't include yourself in what you feel is worthy of being dateable/fuckable/whateverable.

Tonight is the Castro for MoAny's bday and I pulled out some dollahs for a nice evening. Woo Hoo Blackbird.

I wanted to keep it simple and didn't arrange my time to see anyone, but my family and MoAny/AnHimals for their birthday and Aaron because he's across the street from me, I mean... my best friend from HS.. So I didn't tell anyone I'd be in the bay.

I'm a really considerate person.

Another time. Please don't hate me.

Hugging Asians and Feeling Inundated

This is for Oakland residents, especially its black and Asian residents. The images presented here are a gesture to our shared humanity, our need to come closer before we are undone by taking sides

Sounds simple enough.  I wouldn't mind hugging a black man to start my mornings.

I have so much work to do, but I'm procrastinating... there is so much information on the web.  Arg.. This is what I just did:

Gaydar? There's An App for That

I'm subscribed to a lot of industry publications. An article about Grindr caught my eye-

It's no surprise gay men have been at the forefront of social media, readily adopting new technologies that allow them to connect with each other --
something which can be a bit challenging, considering homosexuals
constitute no more than 10% of the general population. The latest
development -- a smartphone app called Grindr -- integrates the big gay
online social network with mobile, GPS location-based updates to create a
real-world version of "gaydar."

...continue.

I think it's a powerful resource. I find folks on Grindr to be very honest. They will tell you what they are looking for, e.g. friends, a hook up, dating... it's a great resource for the modern man with an iPhone. There are a lot of interesting folks there such as this guy:

Looking to expand his horizons, but not into "really ethnic-looking guys." Interesting.

Or this guy:

I guess the keyword here is FEARLESS. I've heard of aggressive bottom or hungry, ravenous bottom... but fearless catcher- that's like superhero status.

==

I haven't met anyone through Grindr except one who became my hair dresser. He cuts my hair for free because he's a student and gets to practice. Love it.

And I've bookmarked my friends, so I know when you're naughty. *chuckle*

Buddy List

Joe told me log onto AIM Express to check out how many buddy lists I'm on. Hmm. 1,698 buddy lists and only 5 people instant message me daily.

1,698 buddy lists? I don't have that many facebook friends. Whooo are you?!?!

I've had this screen name since high school and through Key Club, Berkeley and the gay community, I've whored out my screen name as if I was some sort of resource. And now facebook is integrating with AIM to consolidate instant communication. Gah.

I think I'd like to keep my AIM, Facebook, Blog, Gmail life seperate. Please stop trying to connect with one another!!!!

Though I guess it's my fault for using only one alias.

Busy May

This is what I did on May 1st.
-Painted my room with Jimmy. This is what I'm trying to recreate on my wall:

-Had amazing Thai noodle soup at Wak Dong Moon Lek, my new favorite Thai noodle place. The waitress was really fun. Loved her.
-Went to a gardening store
-Trader Joes for some wine and cheese for our picnic

-Park with Ern Eric Jimmy and Jae and painted some canvases. We witnessed a homeless women in skinny jeans slap/spit on a Latino father in front of his son because he moved her trash can to make a soccer goal. Stripped of his masculinity, we watched the cops come one hour later to offer a meager resolution.-Quick Improv show.. like bam bam, out the door, buy tickets, get's seats quick!
-Cowboys and Turban's Indian Street food for dinner. The restaurant stole sugar from Sizzler.
-Eric's birthday. Eric is a screen writer and did a reading at his birthday party. It inspired Ern to host an open mic night at our place.

From Here you Fucker.

At some house party:

Ignorant White Man: So where are you guys from?
Wirfs: Silverlake
Me: Echopark
Sam: From So Cal yeah..
Ignorant White Man: No no no, I mean.. where are you FROMMMMM. (that's right, say it slower)
Wirfs: No seriously, down the street
Me: Well, I from the bay area I guess
Sam: Erm.. my parents are near Malibu
Ignorant White Man: Hmm... okay, but then before that.. where are you FROMM?
Wirfs: We are US citizens Man
Me: "USA! USA! USA!"
Ignorant White Man: Your heritage
All of us: OHHHhh guess (I enjoyed fucking with this guy)
Ignorant White Man: Well I dont want to assume, (LOL) but... I speak multiple languages... anyone know Tagalog?
Me: *I point my finger excitedly at Ern.. he's HATE these kind of people. *chuckle**
Ignorant White Man: *Says some Gibberish in Tagalog to Ern who purposely left the conversation early on**
Ern: That's not MY language man, *evil glare* turns his face around and talks to someone else.
Ignorant White Man: Oh kay... I'm gonna go now.
I guess all he wanted to do was show off that he knew how to butcher Tagalog. Aww, poor ignorant white man. You can conquest our Asian asses later when you gain a little more perspective.

==
At Buddha Lounge
Black Predator: So what's your name?
Jimmy: Jimmy
Black Predator: Nice to meet you Junny, where are you from?
Jimmy Junny: LA
Black Predator: No, where are you from from
Junny: *Sigh* I was raised in California
Black Predator: OH... well with your skin complexion, I thought you would be from the land of sunshine
Me: Hey Jimmy Junny, Let's go dance.
Really? This shit happens? I guess it happens when you go to a place called "Buddha Lounge" on a Sunday where there was more non Asians than Asians. And "where are you from" is really stupid... "What's your ethnicity" is preferred, unless the goal is to find someone from "the land of sunshine"... not that LA has any sun.

All you non-Asians let's try this out:

"What's your ethnicity?"
(if you're wondering what sort of Asian delicacy your geisha boy can cook for you)

"OH cool.. so were you born here?"
(if you're wondering if he's uncut...sometimes works)

"Let me buy you a drink"
(if you want to liquor him up so that he can be your bottom for the evening)

...and that's how you successfully be a predator. God, do it right.

Doppelgänger Week

Basically... I look like no one.

But Jimmy said I kinda...sorta... if you squint...looked like that guy from Hoobastank. Maybe if my eyes were farther a part. Bah, this is a stupid Meme that tricks me to believe that my friends look better in their recent profile photos than they actually do. =X

Let's try this again....
Hm... So I look like old Asian Politicians. UGH... I think it's the lack of Asian celebrities.

Oh Evan

I've known Evan since high school. Even then he radiated leadership that people wanted to emanate. Now, at 26, has become Mayor of Campbell- a city of 40,000 people adjacent to San Jose.

It's very inspiring to see a young openly gay Asian American in such an influential position. It makes me happy to see that while everyone (including myself) complains about the representation of gays, the representation of Asian Americans... the representation of youth is lacking... Evan is actually doing something about it. That's the difference.

Gosh, what an honor for me to have known him since high school. And what an inspiration...

Way to go Evan!
