Silverlake Chandelier Tree

There's something about checking something off my list that feels so satisfying.  Last week we finally checked out the Silverlake Chandelier Tree.  We were lucky that it was lit because a few of our friends have gone before and were disappointed.

The owner of this property has background in electrical work and thought it would be nice to hang a chandelier.  Soon he started collecting and the tree became a landmark.

It's definitely a pleasant view during a night jog.  There's a cute parking meter repurposed to accept donations because electricity is expensive.

Each one has its own personality.

Hookah Shotgun - Soul Suck

Just like playing Jenga, drinking boba or doing karaoke.  Smoking hookah or shisha is just something to do with friends.  But like anything I do, I like to homo it up.  A little homoerotic activity in public doesn't fail to provide entertainment.  When you pass smoke it's called shotgunning.  We tried this at our favorite Turkish Hookah bar - Ali Mama in Silverlake.  They have a really good, really strong and gritty Turkish coffee.  But only a few were able to do it.

Like a soul sucking Dementor's Kiss or Hocus Pocus.... whatever you're into.

Next time we can up it one notch and try the below. Dang, she's good.

Sweaty Sundays - Clattering Hooves

Dance class on Sundays is our Gay Church

We have to dress up, follow the instructions of our instructor and mimic those around use without really knowing what we're doing.

One of the moves was lift your leg like you're straddling a horse then gallop across the floor.
Loves. I was confident enough to record myself this time!

Stretching before class:

I'm really loving these high energy dance classes.  My back has been so sore afterward, but I feel a lot of euphoria jumping around and acting like I'm fierce during the floor routine.

The rest of the Silverlake gets the choreo:

Ern looking good:

And then us.... please see Jimmy bump into Erik.

We nasty.. and the gay chef on the right has this to say, "IRASSHAIMASEeeeeyyyYYYy!!!!":
You are an artist Ryan Heffington.

Sweaty Sundays - Slow Jams

Yay! Roommate Sweaty Sunday's outing!  This time we took the "Slow Jams" class which turned out to be a bit more lyrical.

This is us fucking around before class starts.  I'm getting quite elagant...  pshaw! LOL

I didn't ask Ern to record me because I sucked ballz, but next time, yes!  I usually get the first and last parts of the choreo; the center is all a blur and I concentrate on stepping on others' toes and humping the air.

Ew.. you guys are disgustingly sweaty.

I cleaned up my layout.  Please check out the other "pages" on the top tabs!  Woot.

MJ Surprises

Jimmy and Jae wanted to do a little drinky drank and a little dancey dance on Friday. And after throwing some ideas around we decided to go to MJs. Probably my favorite gay bar in LA. Good drink deals, local with parking everywhere, music is amazing on Friday, you can be yourself and you avoid the greatly intertwined melodramatic gaysian community of LA who frequent we-vomit-ho.

I never bring a camera to MJs because they have a photographer that just walks around. I chased him down and asked for a group photo, but they didn't post it on their site. But they did post this picture on the left where my face is turned away. I guess the point is to entice people to come, not scare them away. Gotcha. I must say my 3 cowlicks look hot.

Before we entered the club we saw a line, "oh there it is!" Jimmy's boyfriend proclaimed since this was his first time, but as we walked closer we were horrified.

There were about four senior citizens waiting in line to get into the club. Not just old people, but people from retirement homes... who were about to die. They had canes, white hair, square sunglasses to protect their cataract eyes from the florescent lights, they were hunched over. But no hearing aids, because the music was loud enough. "DID WE COME ON THE RIGHT NIGHT?!?!" I pulled out my iPhone to confirm. "Whatever, we are already here." Though we couldn't stop laughing. I couldn't believe we were going to be drinking our vodka tonics, surrounded by go-go dancers next to gramps.

In fact, we shared a table with one, and I kid you not, he was adjusting his dentures. Oh man.

Later in the night this really tall dude approached me. "Are you Chris?" I frantically looked through my mind cabinets- work, high school, neighbor?! Who are you!? I gave him a friendly hi and he explained that he "loves my blog!" and didn't mean to come off creepy.

Creepy? Please, I invented that word. He told me he read the whole thing and joked that I wasn't wearing my giraffe shirt which I responded, "I AM!" He laughed. We made some small talk and I thanked him and walked away. Love love love. So here's my shout out to you! Thanks for finding me somewhat entertaining, but I really recommend johneepixels7 he has better grammar. (And now was have the same shirt!!!)

Ready Set Go

A little Silverlake adventure? Yes please. I'll wear my cheap colorful sunglasses and my hip man bag. We checked out the Jubilee Street Fair in our neighborhood... probably did 20 loops while we were there. Emphasis on music art community environment.

First- Farmers Market

But second, we found a Salvage yard similar to Berkeley's Urban Ore. Score!

Food trucks and posters:

Talented Kids and a stretch session:

I'm trying to be cool again like the Fonz.. AYYY. Eric and Ern made hanging pots to grow basil from old soda bottles and Ern has "gay hip"

Very couture:

Mandarin orange tacos, not as good as Ern's Orange Chicken tacos. Good try LA.

Ern was practicing taking pictures of cute boys in the background. I am teaching him how to properly be creepy. Good shot, Ern.. next time adjust the focus.

Eric had so much fun, he jizzed all over Ern's car seat. Bad Eric!

"What's our next adventure Ern? Let's go!"
