September Moment 30 - Hip Cooks

There's this place in LA called Hip Cooks that teaches you how to host parties, make drinks and serve food.

I went with my coworkers to learn some things about the kitchen, but what really happened was I drank too much, again. JK. I was good, but I definitely was loosened up.

They taught us how to pan fry nuts and season them with brown sugar. They show us how to make a crab dip, a bacon wrapped date (which I already knew how to do from my cousin!) and three drinks. Those drinks included the classic martini, mojito, something with cayenne pepper and a couple of other things.

My buzzed coworker went to get a knife to make the next hors d'oeuvres and the worker quickly intervened, "hii, can I help you find anything?" And grabbed the knife from her. I guess there's liability behind drinking and holding sharp objects.

This is me helping the demonstrator show how to make amaretto sour from freshly squeeze lemons and limes.

But it was the favorite of the night! Cheers! Oh and the aprons were complementary! FTW!

Let's Play Doctor

*THIS MAY BE TMI*

I've been having trouble with some of my bowel movements. I'm thinking, I'm fucking 24.. what's going on? But the issues that I've been having as of late were borderline scary.

Let's just say, I was recommended by numerous friends to go a doctor immediately. I went to one that was recommended to me by my coworkers.

Okay... I would just like to say that he was the hottest doctor in Beverly Hills. Seriously. Like out of a Soap Opera. And it just made getting checked up a lot easier... if yah Know what Im SAYin.

He was so nice and friendly and cute in a gay sort of way. I might just throw my body into a pile of nails just so that I could see him again. God, I was a retard, I was giggling so much, he was so hot... and he had to see my ingrown toe nails, my bad skin and my other personal areas. Blah.

Updates on my health: I need to go to a colon specialist so that they can stick a camera up there. I wonder what else they'll find. Tax Return Forms? Turtle? Paper clips? Who knows.

But until then, no spicy foods. And maybe I should stop eating things with mold on them. My "cut around" policy might not be full proof.

.

The End.

I just wanted to share.

A little Cray cray

I met a dude at an event. I was pretty plastered that I don't remember talking to him... or taking pictures with him.

He IMs me with a flood of compliments:
-Were you the center of attention at the art show, because you're a masterpiece
-How are you doing today my beautiful
-I'm not skinny and sexy like you
-You're so adorable

He ends the conversation with "xoxo."

I did some stalking, researching and found his blog: he is crazy religious- thanks god for his morning shit and obsessed with astrology. Saying, Oh.. I'm SUCH a Taurus.

Oh God. I thought I was crazy.

Maybe this guy is crazier:

Speaking of which, i think my skin is clearer. When I tell people I think it's getting better they just nod their head. Oh well... I can teach you geometry too!

Or Crazy like these ladies in the SF Muni:

I wonder if I would have gotten involved.

encourage

I messaged my brother who is a senior in high school for an update.

All of a sudden he's interested in going to college straight after high school and it's going to be a challenge for him considering how poorly he's doing in high school.

I remember how confused I was when I was applying for colleges. I didn't know the difference between tuition and intuition and I didn't really understand what college was for.. it was just the next thing to do.

==

In previous entries, I wrote about how I failed at being an older brother and that I could have had more influence in directing him. But now I feel like there are some things that were out of my control.

So maybe I didn't pressure him, guide him or focus him appropriately... and maybe the pressuring that I did do negated his motivation to try harder... until now when I'm completely out of his hair.

I know that growing up, I would have been frustrated with anyone who forced and directed me to do anything that was "good for my future." I am lucky I was offered encouragement to pursue anything... my dad was an artist a musician- he would have been thrilled if I did that too.

If my brother gets into college with his 2.5GPA, his 50% on the SATs and his limited extracurricular , than I am more than happy for him. If not, I am still thankful he has a goal.. whether it was going to college or not... it was something he was striving to do even though it's a bit late(r than your average privileged Asian American high schooler.)

The best thing I could do is encourage... and just be there.
(God, I hope he gets into college)

September Moment 19 - Okonomiyaki

We drove 40 minutes to go to a DIY Okonomiyaki joint in Torrence area.
We failed. It looked better before we mixed up the batter and cooked it.

Cheese mochi-like entree was weird.

But the ones made in the kitchen were amazing:

All I did in September was EAT. O . M . G.
Sam and I want to plan an Okonomiyaki night, a Vietnamese night, and a hotpot sukiyaki night. FTW!

September Moment 27 - Beach Day

Friends at Huntington beach
And we were macho with our ball sports and we didn't go to dinner until we were able to rally with a Volleyball 20 times without dropping it. It took forever!

Non Stop Maddness - Photoshoot at Akbar

I've been MIA and I need some alone time.
I have to go in 20 minutes to go to an art show, but I wanted to post something.

Sigh. This week I have been drinking Wednesday through Saturday and I am so done.

Errands:
1. Get Truck fixed. I got a letter in the mail saying that a part in my engine can bust into flames even if the key is not in the ignition. They advise me not to park in a structure full of cars, oops.

2. Buy tickets to DC and NY. I'm so scared to commit! But SHIT Prices are going up!

3. Post pictures of September. ALL that I've been doing is eating this month!

4. Fix my body: Skin doctor for scars, Eye doctor to fish out ripped contact pieces in my eye, Toe doctor because I'm getting ingrown toe nails on BOTH my big toes.

5. September recap.. so many pictures!!

September Moment 3: Free Tacos at Gold room to go with your Corona and a photoshoot:
