April Dragon came early... and it was... just Dragon. Szeto opted to have a restful weekend and save his energy for Badlands later this month. So it was just MoAny and me and my rusty truck... and NO bad suggestions for prepartying!
As we started the night with some AMFs, I made an observation: I was a townie. You know, those people who go to the same bars week after week. Get the usual drinks and have the usual conversations. Except, I have to drive 55minutes to get to my "local bar."
But... this is REALLY the only chance I get to see these people-
"Hey, the last time I saw you was... at Dragon a couple of months"
John was the designated mess of the night.
And Earl :D.
I never get hit on and I really don't hit on my people so I garnered some tips:
Tip #1
MoAny has game and once again he got TWO drinks purchased for him that night. He made small chit chat and walked away with out having to exchange names. Oh.. the tip is ... be MoAny and drinks will be purchased for you. And don't forget to use your fuck-me face.
Tip #2
Ernesto told me that he compliments people's shirts. Apparently gay people like that... and bam! It's like saying, you are hot in your clothes and hotte with OUT! RaWR! But for some reason, I just spent the night unbuttoning my friend's shirts and teaching Jimmi how to do it with lightning speed.
Tip #3
Earl's friend made convo. Talked about where the guy worked and got his phone number for "job opportunities." The tip: pretend you're interested in work, but really you're interesting in WORRRKING IT IN BED!! I mean working through a meaningful relationship, yes.
How was MY game?
Haha, I didn't have any. Though I was trying really hard to find that cute boy to strike up another random conversation and use those tips I had under my belt! But really, I was more concentrated on dancing with old friends and getting my jam on (like usual). MoAny proclaimed that the way I danced, people think I'm taken... or a slut. PuH Lease! We're at a gay club, am I supposed to have a 2 feet middle school boundary? In the words of Nick, "I JUST WANT TO DANCE!" and flirt with a cute boy (while soberish for once).
Am I picky?
I think I am. I couldn't find anyone attractive that night and I reasoned because the faces had all blurred together and personality was not a factor to assist in someone's appeal.
Tofu's theory held true again. Last night, at a party I noticed a boy... and yeah, he looked like a cat. MoAny of course, made conversation found out he had a girlfriend and he runs marathons. I was jealous that he can carry a conversation with strangers so naturally in a complete sober state. It's true, we ALL just want someone to talk to, but we NEVER want to initiate it. MoAny overcame the hurtle; MOANY doesn't have to be drunk to have game.
At Dragon, I took a real good look at MoAny; examining his features and concluded that my boy, my right hand man... was pretty handsome... but more importantly he can initiate a conversation... Who WOULDN'T want to buy him a drink? And after all, thats what those three tips are all about: verbal interaction.... not just looking, which apparently is what I'm good at.
I hate how I depend on social lubricant to be as confident, but ironically the same lubricant also causes me to slur my words... not cute.
Here's a video about hot Korean boys:

Gay + Fobby?!
Last night I was invited to Fuel.
I was just youtubing all night and decided that I should check it out. Off Winchester near Santana Row was this hip restaurant with a bar. My family actually rented the place out for my grandma's 80th birthday.. but they changed owners apparently and the inside looked completely different. On the sign it said, "Fuel, simply Vietnamese." When I walked it.. was just that: simply Vietnamese.
I loved the venue. Nice colors, chic and sexy. The bar was classy and there were candles. I was impressed with the renovation.
Inside, I was greeted by MoAny and Joe and Danster and gang. People were dressed nice, but what came out of their mouths wasn't nice at all. (Yes, I'm talking about their accents.)
Joe commented that our group was the most attractive bunch there. The minute I walked in, I turned off my prowling eyes. I felt like I was at some birthday party and knew only one person.
The music was dance electronic. God-awful beats and NO instructions of how to dance. (like the downstairs floor of dragon). Like... circuit party music? I guess. Horrible. Terrible. I didn't even try to dance, but the group next to us got their groove on. It was a disaster. I was in Asia.
As the night died down, a guy approached me and MoAny. "Hi, My name --- I am promoter, you hab good time?" OH MY GOD, I felt like he was about to offer me a bad hair cut for 7 dollars.
That's the one things about Vietnamese people, even though they know they thick accents, they are still aggressive. That's why we are good business people.
I really hate electronic dance music. And I really hate fobby Vietnamese guys who abuse the language. When my parents speak Vietnamese, it's like a poem.... a poem about falling cherry blossoms next to a creek during the spring time. When others speak Vietnamese, it's like they are trying to sell you a headless chicken for half off from across the polluted river.
It seriously stings. When I was playing badminton, this guy was talking and he was using the nasal part of his voice, he was loud, he was curing in Vietnamese and my ears bled for days.
Ok, with that in mind... add GAY into the mix. Man. I didn't know what to do with myself.
And now Joe V. is promoted it for next week and I feel obligated to go and help promote it.. but... sigh. Hopefully the music is better and the two for one drink special is still going on. Give me some liquor and I'll speak to you in some nice poetic Vietnamese. Tank You very-Mut! Wait.. that's still English.
March 28 (Fri)- Buses, Beaches and Beer
Last weekend I took another LA trip with my high school friends. It was good fun, wholesome and very heterosexual. The amazing part of the trip is that we didn't have a car! That's right! We relied on the bus system! And managed to have smooth trip.
Let's start with Thursday and Friday.
Thursday: Megabus
I took two hours off work and Janelle's parents drove us to the station. We got there Uber early and the bus was a little late. The passengers were all hip youngsters and yes, we were a part of it! Megabus, if you plan early enough you get to LA and back for 18 bucks. Unfortunately, we were still finalizing things so it was 30 bucks there and back. Still good if you ask me.
Of course we sat near the bathrooms and of course we stopped at the stinkiest part of California. Yuck. Alysia picked us up. Her place was HUGE! But every time she drove up her drive way she would scrap the bumper of her car. Time to go on a diet!

Friday Morning: To Sandy's!
Alysia had to work, so we took another bus ride to Sandy's a 20 minute drive turned into a 1.5 hour bus ride. It was cool though, in Union Station is a designated area for filming! For MAX efficiency we paid the bus driver for four tickets at once. She was confused. I guess math isn't required for bus drivers.

We finally made it to Sandy's. We found someone's Cal. Driver's License at a Bus Stop and I mailed it back to them! Cuz I had stamps in my wallet! That's right! The return address was "God, Cloud 9" I made a note that it was his turn to pay it forward! LOL!

By Sandy's place is a produce truck. This cute lady sold us a pineapple for 3 bucks and Sandy cut it up for the beach.

Santa Monica Beach
Last time I went to the beach with my boiz, we were hung over. This time, with my high school friends we were thrifty! We had cheap chinese and a smooth bus ride! Also, My hair was being big!

Oo! We were all enjoying the pineapples until a bird poopped on us. There was bird poop on the towel, Diana AND the pineapples, NO! I said said we can just pick out the bad ones. But then the container tipped and all the poop got into the juice. Moldy cheese is one thing, bird poop is another. I HAVE MY LIMITS!

Happy Hour at Monsoon

Alysia told us that she waited two hours once to get in. But we managed to get in in 45 minutes? They were really strict. They wouldn't let this girl in even though her party was already inside. They just wait for people to leave and gradually let patient guests file in.
They sweet potato fries were in little shopping carts and I told Diana to stuff it in her purse. She declined. Damn!

Afterward, we headed to Tom and Jon's place for a quick game of Pop5. :D And then we headed back to Alysia's for a nice good night sleep.

A Victim Treats His Mugger Right
The article made me cry a little. People need to be nicer to each other.
“If you're willing to risk your freedom for a few dollars, then I guess you must really need the money.”
=======================================================
I haven't read anything substantial in a long time. To a point where I've forgotten how to read. Words have failed to captivate me and novels succeed only at putting me to sleep.
But blogs on the otherhand... lol, that's quality reading right? I've spent the last couple of hours reading this blog: I See things In Widescreen. Starting with his favorite entries, I found myself wanting to read everything, but knowing that I can't in one sitting because he started writing in 2006.
He talks about love, sex, family and is brilliantly honest.
Man, his blog is SO good that I feel like it could be published. It reminds me of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," which is probably the only book other than "James and the Giant Peach" that I voluntarily tried to finish in one sitting.
I also recommend subscribing to xanga.com/hangshimkim he's really sexual. Goodness!

SoCal Trip in March Take 2
I took a second road trip down to LA this month, but it was a very different trip than the first.
Pictures to come, but for now, here's a video starring salt and pepper!
The Look
I've been accused of staring.
Well, if there's something to look at I won't hesitate to fix my focus and enjoy the view. I should take a picture, it will last longer. Hah, I do. If it's something strange like ugly shoes or something nice like cute boys, I will look.
Is it rude? I don't think so, is it creepy? I don't think so. After all, using your eyes is a form of communication. But what are your eyes saying?
"How YOU doin?"
"You're a Cutie, what's your name?"
"Let's go to the bathroom for a quicky"
Looking is innocent and making eye contact is exciting. (And awkward). But following it with a smile is possibly the best move you can make. And from there you can see if you get a smile back.
I dream of meeting a guy on the street, asking him out on a date and then persue something romanic. But for many, the first boyfriend is met through the web... and from the getgo, the "relationship" is rocky. But where else are you supposed to meet a boy? Especially when our lives are so "downe" low. Friends of friends are a safe bet, but that's not as exciting as a casual encounter.
That's why the look is so important. It's how you meet real people who so happen to be interested in you, right? Ha, but this is much more difficult than browsing by Zip Code and clicking "more pics."
Walking in the street you see a cute boy, you make eye contact, you look away. That's normal, but was he checking you out too? There's only one way to find out: look again. The double take is a clear indicator that they are interested too. And since you're doing the double take, it signifies that you are interested in him! It also works in reverse.
Oh goodness, that boy is nasty. You inadvertanly stare because you couldn't figure out if why he's wearing CROCs. You catch his look.. Shit! LOOK AWAY! And don't you dare look back because that would be the double take and he may chase you.
Anyway.
I've been working on actually using my mouth to communicate. In church and in SoCal, I've fixed my stare until I get attention then confirm with the double take. I'm now trying to muster the courage to mouth the word "hi" and follow it with a smile. Or even a "wasup" head nod would suffice. But that's easier said than done right?
I've developed a plan or rather a resolution. Next time... I'm in the situation, I'll try with all my might to keep confident and greet them. After all, they're interested too... right? And being shy will get you no where.
